Mentored Fishing

The Mentored Fishing club is a program that will meet at least 2 times per month for most of the year.

Goals are to:

  • To help students learn the skills to be successful on the water

  • To help students understand the differences in fishing equipment, including poles, reels, line, lures and bait.

  • To help students learn the methods and techniques for various fish and water types.

  • To help students develop a respect for fellow fishermen and for the fish they pursue.

  • To help students understand their role as a fisherman and conservationist.

  • To instill in students an understanding of ethics and values in fishing and on the water.

This will include classroom, on the water and kitchen activities. The club will experience fishing for different fish including bass, panfish, catfish, walleye and others. The club will experience various techniques for each species of fish. Students will have an opportunity to fish Lake Erie during the summer.
